A showcase of architectural splendor, the Red Rooster captures the essence of history in Key West. Built as a private home in 1870, it later offered modest rooms and apartments for the Coast Guard and Navy. During the 1970's and 80's, the Rooster became a place where visitors could find a clean room at an affordable price. Writers, musicians and artists would call it home adding to Key West's colorful reputation.
