The Ambrosia House is a delightful blend of historic gingerbread conch houses and cottages, surrounded by lush tropical landscaping and nestled just one block off Duval Street in Historic Key West. The Ambrosia House was designed for ultimate privacy and romance. Suites are decorated in tropical theme with 4 poster canopy beds draped in mosquito netting, ceiling fans, original local artwork, and designer linens. All suites have private entrances and some have in room Jacuzzi's and full kitchens. The lushly landscaped grounds feature frangipani, bromeliads, flowering orchids and palms surrounding decks, three pools, a large hot tub, and interspersed with numerous fountains, and a large collection of bird houses and outdoor sculptures.
The Ambrosia House, offers a variety of suites, rooms, townhouses and cottages on over a half an acre in the very center of Old Town Key West, just a block from Duval and three blocks from the Historic Seaport Area.
B & B's History:
The original Ambrosia House was purchased in 1996 by Kate Miano, a recent divorcee who decided to open a bed and breakfast specializing in romantic getaways for lovers, and honeymooners. In 2000 Kate purchased the Fleming Street Inn directly across the street which became The Ambrosia House Too These historic homes built by 19th century merchants and sea captains are located in the largest historic district in the United States.
Key West is a city full of character and characters located just 90 miles from Cuba. Key West is also known as the Conch Republic which it became after it ceremoniously seceded from the United States in 1982 in protest over a border patrol blockade of the Florida Keys. Kate is known locally as the "Lady Ain't Waiting" in the Conch Republic and drives what is known as a "Conch Cruiser", a colorfully painted red convertible adorned with pink conch shells.

THE SUITES...
The Captains Suite:

Located on the first floor front of the property and has a large outdoor verandah with white wicker furniture overlooking the magnificently restored Conch Houses on one of Key West's most beautiful and quiet streets. The original main entrance to the property is the living room of this spacious two room suite. The bedroom features a queen 4 poster canopy bed with draped netting. Features include in-room refrigerator, coffee maker, color cable TV, air conditioning, ceiling fans, etc. This suite can accommodate additional guests (up to 4 people)

The Ambrosia Suite:

Located on the first floor with a private side entrance features a full living room and a queen 4 poster custom made canopy bed with draped netting, There is an outdoor seating area surrounded by lots of landscaping and outdoor sculptures for the use of the guests. In addition to lovely furnishings the suite features all original artwork. Other features include in-room refrigerator, coffee maker color cable TV, air conditioning, ceiling fans, etc. This suite can accommodate additional guests (up to 4 people)

The Sailfish Suite:

Located on the first floor side of the property and features a large private verandah with white wicker furniture. There is a full living room including table and chairs and a queen futon sofa bed and a separate bedroom with a custom made wooden 4 poster canopy bed. Lots of dade county pine is used in the room that has a very tropical and yet romantic motif. This is the largest suite on the property. Features include in-room refrigerator, coffee maker, color cable TV, air conditioning, ceiling fans, etc. This suite can accommodate additional guests (up to 4 people)

The Jungle Room:

Our most popular suite, featured on both our web site and in our brochure, the Jungle Room features French doors off the back deck of the property, just steps from the hot tub and the lagoon pool complete with waterfall. The room has tall ceilings and dade county pine floors, walls and ceilings and a very tropical motif. The king size 4 poster bed has all custom made linens in a tone on tone damask and imported silk. The suite has all original artwork and a large bathroom. Very romantic! Features include in-room refrigerator, coffee maker, color cable TV, air conditioning, ceiling fans, cd player, etc.

The Treetop Suite:

This suite has its own small private verandah and takes up the back wing of the entire 2nd floor of the property. King bed and a small sitting room off the master bedroom make this a spacious and pretty suite. All standard features found in our other suites.

The Honeymoon Suite:

Features probably the largest and most beautifully appointed master bath in Key West which includes a 2 person corner Jacuzzi tub, fireplace, dressing table, separate neo-angle shower, pedestal sink in the shape of a seashell, chandelier, etc. The bedroom has a king size 4 poster canopy bed dressed in designer linens, in room refrigerator, coffee maker, color cable TV with VCR air conditioning, ceiling fan, and CD player.

Havana Cabana:

Another suite with a private entrance, two person in room Jacuzzi and king size iron and brass 4 poster bed. This suite is quite luxurious with custom duvet and linens, refrigerator, coffee maker, color cable TV, CD player, dressing table, air conditioning and ceiling fans. The suite is located on the second floor front of the property and has a large outdoor verandah overlooking the street escape of restored "Conch Houses." Very intimate and romantic.

Flemings' Veranda:

This is a two story Victorian town home with verandas overlooking historic Fleming Street on both the first and second floors. It features a full living room with queen sofa bed, complete kitchen, winding staircase leading to the second floor master bedroom with queen bed and private verandas with white wicker furniture. This suite accommodates up to 4 adults.

Katie's kottage:

A charming two bedroom/two bath stand alone cottage with living room, full kitchen, winding staircase, refinished hardwood floors, two sets of French doors opening onto a private deck and opening up onto the pool. Spacious, bright and airy.

Bob's Place:

A wonderful two story town house suite with a living room, queen sofa bed, full kitchen on the first floor with double french doors opening up to a deck at the foot of the dip pool. A winding staircase leads to the master bedroom/bathroom on the second floor which has a private balcony and vaulted ceilings. Very Tropical!

Zeke's Retreat:

Another two story townhouse hidden away overlooking Nancy's Secret Garden. Very private with a large outdoor deck and balcony off the bedroom. Full kitchen, living room with queen sofa bed. Spacious, quiet and secluded. Named in memory of our Hurricane Georges parrot, Zeke.

The Alligator Suite:

Located on the ground floor of the main historic building at the foot of the lap pool. French doors open up to a huge private porch with white wicker furniture. Bedroom features queen bed, in room refrigerator, coffee maker, color cable tv, air conditioning, and ceiling fans.

Poolside Rooms:

Light Ash contemporary suites with tile floors and two sets of French Doors opening up onto the brick courtyard and lap pool. All feature in room refrigerators, coffee makers, color cable tv, air conditioning, ceiling fans, and private baths.

Treetop Too:

A large suite situated on the second floor with french doors opening onto a huge sun deck overlooking the lap pool. Features a queen bed, refrigerator, coffee maker, original art work and designer linens.
